Jerry Seinfeld won't be getting the first $205,700 Acura NSX after all | bamboo wallpaper

In 2012, Acura delighted America with a Super Bowl commercial featuring Jerry Seinfeld in his quest to be the first to get the all-new NSX supercar. Despite his hilarious attempts to acquire the first one off the production line, Acura will instead be auctioning off the initial 2017 NSX for charity. Sorry, Jerry.

The very first serial production Acura NSX, with VIN 001, will cross the auction block at the Barrett-Jackson collector car auction in Scottsdale, Arizona the last week of January. The proceeds of which will go to a pair of children's charities: the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation and Camp Southern Ground, the passion project of Grammy Award-winning artist Zac Brown.

Along with its charitable announcement, Acura also detailed the pricing for its all-new all-wheel drive hybrid supercar. Pricing starts at $156,000 in the U.S. and will top out at $205,700. While that might seem staggering for an Acura, it's actually quite a bargain.

Though it has a rather accessible logo on its hood, the NSX actually features some seriously important technology underneath its sleek yet square body. At its heart is a twin-turbocharged V6 mated to a 9-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Those are aided by a three-electric motor Sport Hybrid system that transfers power to all four wheels through Acura's new, first-of-its-kind Sport Hybrid Super Handling All-Wheel Drive power unit.

If you're not a car tech geek, think about it this way: The Acura NSX's powertrain is comparable to the $845,000 Porsche 918 Spyder technical tour de force ... but for $156,000. So, yeah, the NSX is quite a steal.

If you're worried that Seinfeld will be despondent over the fact he's missing out on the first NSX after waiting five long years, you can rest assured that he'll be OK. He'll be able to soothe his jangled nerves from behind the wheel of the aforementioned 918 Spyder.
